As we spend more time indoors, we may watch a lot of tv, whip up meals from scratch, and generally use more energy around the clock. How do you keep your home cozy and warm during these cold temperatures?

Our professionals at TemperaturePro have a few efficient tips!

1. Make sure heating vents are not blocked and are open.

Your heater may be working correctly, and your ducts may be sealed completely, but if your vents are blocked, the hot air will never get to warm your house. Go around your home, look at all the heating vents, and ensure that furniture, curtains, or other objects do not block them.

2. Change out your air filter and clean the air vents.

One of the most common causes of an HVAC unit breakdown is accumulated dirt and dust that may be in the filtering system. Check your HVAC air filter every month; if you haven’t changed it in the last three months, it’s time for a new one. Check and clean your air vents throughout your house to ensure there is no buildup of dirt and dust; that may cause inefficient airflow.

3. Consider a replacement.

If your HVAC system is over ten years old or not working correctly, replacing it with a newer model can offer many benefits. You will have a much warmer home in the winter and save on energy bills. Have our technicians come out to see what shape your heating unit, furnace, or boiler is in and whether there are any signs that it needs to be repaired or replaced.
